Howard E. Campbell

Howard Edmond Campbell (born January 4, 1890 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , †  January 6, 1971 there ) was an American politician . Between 1945 and 1947 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Howard Campbell attended the public schools in his home country and then studied at the University of Pittsburgh . He later worked in Pittsburgh in the real estate and insurance businesses. Between 1943 and 1944 he headed the Real Estate Board in Pittsburgh. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . In the 1944 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 29th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Robert L. Rodgers on January 3, 1945 .

Since Campbell waived another candidacy in 1946, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1947 . During this time the Second World War ended . After his time in the US House of Representatives, he returned to the real estate industry. In 1954 and 1955 he headed the East Liberty Chamber of Commerce . He died on January 6, 1971 in Pittsburgh, where he was also buried.
