Howard Jonathan Eisley (born December 4, 1972 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American basketball player who played in the North American basketball league NBA from 1994 to 2006 . He played for a total of eight different teams, including 1995 to 2000 at the two-time runner-up Utah Jazz , but was only able to prevail as a regular at the New York Knicks in 2002/03 . At 1.88 meters tall, he played the position of point guard . Eisley has been working as an assistant coach since 2010, currently with the Washington Wizards .

Career

After his time in the NCAA for Boston College Howard Eisley was committed in the second round of the 1994 draft in a total of 30th place by the Minnesota Timberwolves . During his first season, he moved to the San Antonio Spurs . Already for the following season another change followed, namely to the Utah Jazz , where he was mostly used as a substitute for John Stockton . At the side of Stockton and Karl Malone , Eisley made it to the NBA Finals in 1997 and '98 . In 2000 he moved from Utah Jazz to the Dallas Mavericks , where he became a regular player for the first time, at least in the meantime. It was Eisley's fourth season in a row, in which he was used in every game of the regular season . 2001 Eisley went to the New York Knicks . In the 2002/03 season Eisley ran in 76 of the 82 season games from the start and achieved career bests averaging 9.1 points and 5.4 assists per game, but during the next season he moved again, this time to the Phoenix Suns . After another season with the Utah Jazz, two short guest appearances with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets followed in 2005/06 . Most recently Eisley was in the roster of the Chicago Bulls , where he was no longer used. After his career he became an assistant coach. Initially with the Clippers and since 2014 under coach Randy Wittman , he has been responsible for the Washington Wizards.
