Hsu Li-Kong

Hsu Li-Kong ( Chinese  徐立功 , Pinyin Xu Li Gong * 27. December 1943 ) is a Taiwanese film producer , film director , screenwriter and current president of Zoom Hunt International Productions Co. Ltd .

Life

Hsu Li-Kong studied at Fu-Jen Catholic University from 1963 to 1967 and graduated with a master's degree in philosophy. He then worked for the Taiwanese broadcaster before moving to the government information bureau . He then became director of the National Film Archive from 1979, from where he reformed the Golden Horse Film Festival from 1980 . He divided the film festival into a purely Chinese and an international section. After about 10 years he left the film archive and moved to the central Motion Picture Corporation as a producer , from where he sponsored films by Taiwanese directors such as Ang Lee and Tsai Ming-liang . In 1997 he left the company to start his own production company Zoom Hunt International Productions .

After Hsu Li-Kong had already produced Ang Lee's films Pushing Hands , The Wedding Banquet and Eat Drink Man Woman , it was Tiger and Dragon , for which he did not receive nominations for best film at the Independent Spirit Awards and Oscars , but not even for best - English language film at the BAFTA Film Awards .

His brother is the former executive Yuan Hsu Lide ( Chinese  徐立德 ).
