Huancarani Bajo (also Huankarani Bajo ) is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Huancarani Bajo is the third largest town in the canton of Villa Charcas in the municipality of Villa Charcas in the province of Nor Cinti . The place is located at an altitude of 2982 m on the right, western bank of the Río Villa Charcas , which belongs to the river system of the Río Pilcomayo via the Río Inca Huasi and the Río Pilaya .

Huancarani Bajo is located on the northern edge of the mountainous region of the Cordillera de Tajsara o Tarachaca in the semi-arid transition area between the semi-humid mountain forests of the eastern mountain ranges of Bolivia and the arid Altiplano .
The annual rainfall varies between 350 and 550 mm and occurs mainly in the months from November to March; the winter months from May to August are largely free of precipitation (see Culpina climate diagram). The monthly average temperatures are between almost 20 ° C in December and 5 to 8 ° C in June / July.

Traffic situation
Huancarani Bajo is 382 kilometers by road south of Sucre , the capital of the department.
The 898-kilometer Ruta 5 highway runs through Sucre and leads from the Cordillera Oriental across the Altiplano to the Chilean border. From Sucre, the road leads 169 kilometers in a south-westerly direction to Potosí , where it meets the north-south running Ruta 1 . From there it is another 122 kilometers on Ruta 1 to Padcoyo . From there, an unpaved road leads eastwards via Ocurí to Palacio Tambo , and in Ocurí a road branches off in a southerly direction and leads via Malliri , Chiñimayu and El Terrado to Huancarani Alto , the road being 45 kilometers between Chiñimayu and Huancarani Alto rises to heights of just over 4000 meters. Eight kilometers south of Huancarani Alto, an unpaved dirt road branches off to the east and after one kilometer reaches Huancarani Bajo .
