Huarmey is the capital of Huarmey Province in the Ancash region of Peru . It is also the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city had 20,905 inhabitants at the 2017 census, 10 years earlier the population was 17,551.
The city of Huarmey is located 250 km north-northwest of the state capital Lima , 2 km from the Pacific coast. The city is located at a height of 14 m on the north bank of the Río Huarmey , just under 3 km above its mouth into the sea. The national road 1N ( Panamericana ) passes the city. There are several beaches near Huarmey.
