Hubert Dörer

Hubert Dörer (born September 9, 1966 in Villach , Carinthia ) is an Austrian strength athlete. He has been (2010) twice world champion in powerlifting (powerlifting), three times European champion, 16-time national champion and cup winner and strongest man in Austria. In addition, he set several world records for strength.

Life

At the age of ten he started skiing as a club and later cross-country skiing . a. Carinthian champion in cross-country skiing. He also played soccer with Sturm Fellach and then with ASKÖ Töplitsch / Kellerberg . At the age of 16 he started weight training and at 17 he became a boxer at the Union Villach boxing club . When he later played in the Austrian national American football team , he got in touch with bodybuilding. At the age of 26, at the request of the organizer of the Austrian Giants , Otto Wanz , he took part in this event and immediately achieved 9th place. From now on he trained hard and in February 1996 was able to achieve 2nd place at the Powerlifting B League World Cup in Lienz . In March 1997 he reached 1st place at the Powerlifting B League World Cup in Reutte and in April 1998 he won the Powerlifting European Championship in England . Two months later he was also able to secure the Austrian state championship in powerlifting.

1999 is considered to be his most successful sports year; He not only became state champion in bench press and vice-state champion in powerlifting, but in November also world champion in powerlifting and vice world champion in bench press. The World Cup took place in Calgary , Canada . In June 2000 he again won the state championships in bench press and powerlifting. After he was again state champion in powerlifting in 2001, he was voted athlete of the year .

In August 2002 he won the Austrian Strong Man Championship in Klagenfurt and was thus officially the strongest man in Austria. In November of the same year he set a new world record for holding a motorcycle . In 2003 he won the Strong Man Austria Cup in Salzburg . In 2004, several shows followed, as well as a world record as a living tow bar and a world record in lifting bricks . Since the end of 2004 he has been organizing Strongman Cups for the DACH association. He has been running the village cafe in Weißenstein since March 30, 2009 .

In 2010 he was again world champion in powerlifting in Trnava, Slovakia . After squats with 290 kilograms on his shoulders, bench presses with 212.5 kilograms and deadlifts with 280.5 kilograms, he not only won gold in the premier class (+ 140 kg), but also set a new European record with a total of 783 kg moved weight on.

Hubert Dörer is married and has two daughters. His daughter Corinna (* 1992), a professional soldier in the armed forces, also followed in her father's footsteps and has already celebrated numerous successes. On April 20, 2011, he had a serious motorcycle accident, suffered a blasted pool and was in a wheelchair for four months. The pain during training and the state of illness got worse and worse. For this reason Dörer ended his active sporting life. With his experience he supports the next generation of KSV - Carinthia.
