Hubert Dürrstein

Hubert Dürrstein (born July 26, 1955 in Würzburg ) is a German forest scientist . From 2003 to 2007 he was rector of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU).

Life

Hubert Dürrstein studied forest science from 1976 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , graduating in 1980 with a diploma. He then worked as a research assistant at the Department of Forest Work Science and Process Engineering at the University of Munich, where he in 1987 based computer with a dissertation on the configuration in the forest road construction to Dr. rer. silv. PhD . From 1982 to 1986 he was also a lecturer at the Fernuniversität Hagen, specializing in economics.

From 1989 he worked as a forestry consultant in Switzerland . In 1999 he was appointed full professor for forest engineering and forest work at BOKU Vienna. In 2000 he took on the role of chairman of the forest and wood science committee, and from 2001 to 2003 he was vice-rector for resources. In 2003 he succeeded Leopold March as rector of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna , in 2007 he was replaced by Ingela Bruner in this position and he returned to the chair of forest technology.

From 2005 to 2015 he served as chairman of the economic council of the Federal Research and Training Center for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW). From 2009 to the end of 2015 he was managing director of the Austrian Exchange Service Society (OeAD-GmbH). He was then an interim director for administration and finance at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). On July 1, 2016, he returned to BOKU, and since September 1, 2016, he has been an authorized representative of the Rectorate with a focus on personnel and investment management.
