Hubert Fol

Hubert Fol (* 11. November 1925 in Paris ; † 19th January 1995 ) was a French jazz - saxophonist of oldtime jazz , later the Bebop . He played with Django Reinhardt from 1951 to 1953.

Live and act

Hubert Fol grew up in a family of musicians. He learned piano , violin and clarinet and first played traditional jazz around 1945 in the band of clarinetist Claude Abadie with his brother, pianist Raymond Fol and trumpeter Boris Vian . He then moved on to bebop and worked with Django Reinhardt in four recording sessions from 1951 to 1953. He also worked with Eddy Bernard (1949), Pierre Michelot , Roger Guérin , Barney Wilen (1947) and had his own formation called Be Bop Minstrels , with the 1948 recordings for the Swing label ( "Robbin's Nest" ). Fol also played with the American musicians in Paris Kenny Clarke , Dizzy Gillespie , Coleman Hawkins (1949) and Howard McGhee (1948). He also accompanied Rex Stewart , Gillespie and Hawkins on European tours and also made guest appearances in Germany.
