Claude Abadie

Claude Abadie (born January 16, 1920 in Paris ; † March 29, 2020 ) was a French bank manager , clarinetist and orchestra leader of Dixieland Jazz .

Live and act

Abadie graduated from Paris École polytechnique in 1938 and later worked full-time as a bank manager. In addition, he led a semi-professional orchestra in the 1940s that performed primarily in Parisian nightclubs such as the Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Tabou Club , where the Abadie Orchestra was the house band ; but it has also given concerts at several European amateur jazz festivals. Abadie's band gave birth to a number of well-known musicians from the French post-war scene such as Hubert and Raymond Fol , Christian Garros , Hubert Rostaing or the trumpeter Boris Vian , who played for Abadie from 1942 to 1947 and in 1946 made recordings for the Swing label of hot jazz such as “ I Found a New Baby ”or“ Muskrat Ramble ”participated. Vian's brothers Alain (drums) and Lélio (guitar) also played in the ensemble, soon to be called Orchester Abadie-Vian . Further recordings were made with Vian for Pathé later this year . Abadie's amateur orchestra was stylistically based on Eddie Condon . In later years Abadie performed with her own trio, in 2010 with a tentet .
