Hubert Kennedy

Hubert Collings Kennedy (* 1931 ) is an American author, mathematician and LGBT activist.

Life

Kennedy grew up in the state of Florida . After finishing school, Kennedy studied mathematics and received his doctorate in 1961 from Saint Louis University under John F. Daly (Group membership in rings). In 1974 Kennedy moved to Germany, where he lived until 1976 and then returned to Rhode Island. There he met Reverend Joseph Gilbert of the Metropolitan Community Church . Kennedy was a professor of mathematics at Providence College in Rhode Island , which was run by Catholic Dominicans . On January 21, 1976, Kennedy came out on The Cowl with a picture on the cover. Kennedy and Eric Gordon took part in the first Gay Pride Parade on June 26, 1976 in Rhode Island on North Main Street in Providence , where they carried the banner of the Gay Academic Union of New England . In 1986 Kennedy moved to San Francisco .

As a mathematics historian, he dealt with the history of mathematical logic and was the biographer of Giuseppe Peano . He also studied the mathematical manuscripts of Karl Marx .

Kennedy is a Research Associate at the Center for Research and Education in Sexuality at San Francisco State University .

Kennedy has published over 200 publications in a variety of languages. He wrote on a variety of subjects and translated several works by other authors into the English language, such as the author John Henry Mackay .
