His abstract work deals with the origin, so-called atavisms of painting. "Primordial forms are always innovators of art compared to complicated forms", formulated Pfaffenbichler. However, he also deals with political issues of his time, such as in his work “art for peace”. In numerous domestic actions, such as the declaration of Stephansplatz as a place of peace and encounter, "Bobby Fischer Object - Chess for War", the transformation of Stephansplatz into a chessboard, as well as actions abroad, Action 5 "the edible steel helmet - autumn timeless ", Action 2" 26 hours of uninterrupted shaving "as at the International Art Market in Düsseldorf in 1972, he stands up against the hustle and bustle of the establishment and for dialogue. Painting and graphics as time-critical engagement and moment of irritation.
