Hubert Strauf

Hubert Heinrich Strauf (born April 7, 1904 ; † 1993 ) was a German entrepreneur and copywriter .

Life

On his 30th birthday, Strauf founded Werbe-Strauf, one of the first German advertising agencies . After his military service, he co-founded the Essen advertising agency Die Werbe , from which the agency Werbe-Euro-Advertising in Düsseldorf emerged. He became President of the General Association of Communication Agencies and sat on the Presidential Council and Presidium of the Central Association of the German Advertising Industry . In 1946, Strauf was involved in the creation of one of the few specialist magazines in the field of advertising, economy + advertising . Later the trade magazine “ Vertriebswirtschaft” , which still appears today, emerged from it.

In 1978, Strauf was awarded the Dr. Kurt Neven DuMont Medal and posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame of German Advertising in 2001.

Significant work

Among other things, Strauf helped Coca-Cola achieve a breakthrough in post-war Germany with the sloganTake a break ” . The slogan “ No experiments ”, under which Konrad Adenauer and the CDU won the historic election victory in 1957 with an absolute majority - for the first time with the help of an advertising agency - also came from Strauf. The slogans " Pril relaxes the water" and " Krombacher - brewed with rock spring water" also come from Strauf. Other of his customers were Reemtsma , Edeka , Bayer , Schwarzkopf , RWE , Ruhrkohle and Krupp .
