Hubertus Drobner

Hubertus Rudolf Drobner (born May 23, 1955 in Mannheim-Rheinau ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Hubertus Drobner studied theology at the Lateran University in Rome . On 12 June 1982 he received in Mainz the priesthood , along with his older brother Karl-Heinz. As early as 1980 he was at the University of Mainz with a philological work on the Easter sermon De tridui spatio Gregory of Nyssas doctorate . He later earned two more doctorates and completed his habilitation . In 1986 he took over the chair for church history and patrology at the theological faculty in Paderborn .

Drobner's textbook on patrology has also been translated into English, French, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Czech. He also appeared through the publication of the sermons of St. Augustine of Hippo . Drobner wrote numerous articles for the third edition of the Lexicon for Theology and Church and the Biographical-Bibliographical Church Lexicon .

Hubertus Drobner was the consistorial dean of the consistory of the Apostolic Visitature for the displaced Catholics of the Archdiocese of Breslau .

Honors

In September 2014, Oxford University awarded him a Doctor of Divinity (DD) degree . The Australian Catholic University appointed him an honorary professor .

Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archeology on October 15, 2016 .
