Hugh Walker (drummer)
Hugh Walker (born November 22, 1942 in Purcell , Oklahoma , † January 15, 2008 in Midwest City , Oklahoma) was an African-American jazz musician ( drums ).
Walker's parents were Hugh Walker Sr. and Mae Ella Hill Walker. He grew up in Oklahoma City and attended school there. At school he first played the horn , but then turned to drums . After graduating from high school in 1960, Walker left Oklahoma City to work as a musician. He played with jazz musicians such as George Braith ( Soul Stream Blue Note , 1963), Kenny Dorham , Big John Patton , Harold Mabern , Harold Vick , O'Donel Levy , Buck Hill , Ronnie Wells and Mary Lou Williams . In the field of jazz he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 1963 and 1986.
Walker had a son and two daughters.
