Meanwhile, Isabell, an aging actress and former diva , realizes that her career is doomed. She therefore absolutely wants a cuddly, unique animal from the jungle, which should boost her career again. With the help of an Indian , Isabell and her search party discover Hugo. Isabell then immediately has Hugo captured and kidnapped. But Hugo can free himself and flee. He lands on a banana steamer , on which he meets the evil Isabell again. Kalle, the friendly ship's cook , saves Hugo from living with Isabell, but puts him in an exotic zoo . Hugo is able to escape again and meets many new friends in the new surroundings. He gets to know the vixen Rita, with whom he befriends quickly and who also repeatedly saves him from Isabell and her husband, the farewell is all the more painful. In the end, Hugo can leave the big city and return to his beloved homeland, where he is already expected.

criticism

“An adorable and funny cartoon with an original main character who quickly wins you over with its cuteness. It effortlessly carries the animated film fun, which is also technically and handcrafted, if not too original. "

“A Danish animated film in the best Disney fashion. [...] Flemming Quist Møller not only directed this cartoon, but also wrote the children's book of the same name about the lovable little guy who is looking for friendship and peace. At the same time, the story is a satirical parable on our world. "

The series

A second part, Hugo, the jungle animal - reluctant film star , followed in 1996 and a third part, Hugo, the jungle animal - up and away , was released in 2008 as a computer animation. A television series of the same name about the jungle animal was created from 2001 to 2003; it was broadcast on television in 2003 and 2004.
