Hugo von Rouen (* around 690; † April 8, 730 in Jumièges ) is a saint of the Catholic Church . He was the second son of dux (Duke) Drogo († 708), the eldest brother of Karl Martell and a great-great-grandson of Arnulf von Metz . His ordination was between 713 and 715.

Live and act

After 719 he became Bishop of Lisieux , Bishop of Avranches , Abbot of Fontenelle , Abbot of Saint-Denis, after 720 he became Archbishop of Rouen and at the same time headed the dioceses of Paris and Bayeux , as well as the Abbeys of Fontenelle and Jumièges.

In the year 715 he is attested as sacerdos , priests, along with his siblings, his older brother, the dux Arnulf († after 723), and the two younger ones, Pippin and Gottfried . A little later he is Abbot of Jumièges on the lower reaches of the Seine , and finally after 719 Bishop of Paris , Bishop of Rouen and Bishop of Bayeux .

In the interplay of the Arnulfinger (later Carolingian ) assumption of power in the Franconian Empire , Hugo is the one who covers the ecclesiastical side.

He died on April 9, 730 in the Abbey of Jumièges at the age of about 40 as abbot of Jumièges in Jumièges and was buried there.
