Hugobert

Hugobert (also Chugoberctus ) († probably 697) was Seneschal among the Merovingians 693/694 and is referred to as Count Palatine in 697, the presumed year of his death . He was a grandson of the dux Theotar, and it has been suggested, but not proven, that his father was that Hugus or Chugus who was a housekeeper in Austrasia around 617 ; however, it has been refuted that Hugobert could be identical to Bishop Hugobert von Lüttich (around 701–727), since his wife appears as a widow in Echternach documents as early as 698.

What is certain, however, is that Hugobert is one of Charlemagne's ancestors through his daughter Bertrada the elder . Hugobert is the eponymous member of the Hugobertiner family .

He was married to Irmina von Oeren († December 25, 704/710), who in 697/698, probably shortly after his death, enabled the foundation of the Echternach monastery through a donation .
