Hugues de Lionne, Marquis de Berny (born October 11, 1611 in Grenoble , † September 1, 1671 ) was a French diplomat .

Lionne came from a noble family of the Dauphiné and was a French envoy in Munster, participating in the Westphalian Peace Congress . In 1646 he was promoted to secretary to the Queen Mother Anna of Austria through the favor of Jules Mazarin . In 1655 he went to Rome as envoy for the election of Alexander VII as pope . In 1657 he was envoy in Frankfurt am Main . From 1658 Lionne worked as an envoy in Madrid during the negotiations for the Pyrenean Peace , which he had a major influence. In 1663 he became foreign minister and enjoyed the unreserved trust of Louis XIV , who bestowed him with special signs of favor.
