The Humbachtalbrücke is a 290 m long double-track railway overpass on the high-speed line Nuremberg – Erfurt between the route kilometers 159.293 and 159.583.

The girder bridge is located eight kilometers east of Ilmenau and spans the federal highway 87 , the Humbach and one of the Humbach ponds.

The flyover was built between 1999 and 2002.

Cross section of the superstructure

The bridge superstructure consists of a chain of five single span girders . This enables individual bridge segments to be replaced later. The cross-sectional shape is a single-cell reinforced concrete box with inclined webs, prestressed in the longitudinal direction . In addition, the deck is prestressed in the transverse direction. The span is a uniform 58 meters with a deck width of 14 m. The constant construction height of 5.0 m is relatively high due to the required rigidity for the purpose of deflection limitation.
