The Geratalbrücke Bischleben is a double-track railway overpass structure on the Nuremberg – Erfurt high-speed line between the route kilometers 185.804 and 186.127.

The bridge is located five kilometers west of downtown Erfurt between the districts of Hochheim and Bischleben . The overpass structure spans the Gera and Landesstraße 2154, which connects Hochheim and Bischleben.

In the structural area, the route is designed for a design speed of 180 km / h and has a gradient of 20 per thousand in the longitudinal direction. The bridge has been given a ballast bed with a 4.0 m track spacing. The investment volume amounted to 6 million euros .

The 322.6 m long bridge consists of a steel arched bridge over the Gera with 78.3 m span and 244.3 m long foreland bridges made of prestressed concrete . With the exception of the dividing pillars, the foundation was made on bored piles .

history

In the route planning in 1995 and 1996 a bridge structure with a length of 292 m was planned. In the documents for the planning approval decision in 1997, a four-span, 311 m long, steel truss bridge with pillar spacing between 56 m and 68 m was planned.

Construction began in 2002 and was finished in 2005. In the fall of 2013, repair work was carried out on the previously unused structure, including the installation of new bridge caps.

On March 6, 2017, test runs were carried out with two trains, each weighing around 1000 tons.

Arch bridge

On its sides, the bridge has two 2.9 m high stiffening girders, each of which is suspended from the arches with ten flat steel hangers. The height of the arch stitch is 12.55 m, the construction height 14.45 m. The 625 to heavy bridge was assembled using two truck- mounted cranes .

Foreland bridge

A construction that deviates from the framework planning for bridges of Deutsche Bahn AG was chosen for the approach bridge . Instead of a slab with rolled girders set in concrete (system “rolled girder in concrete”), a slender, 1.25 m high, prestressed single-web T-beam bridge with 13 spans and short spans of 18 to 20 m was implemented. The prestressed concrete bridge consists of a chain of three continuous girders with one six and two three fields, which are separated from each other by expansion joints . The longitudinal forces due to braking are diverted into the subsoil through the two brake pillars and the separating pillars. A single-span girder is attached to the tied arch bridge on the right Geraufer. The bridge was built on a falsework .
