Husby is a neighborhood in the Rinkeby-Kista borough of Stockholm , Sweden . Husby has 11,193 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2008).

history

There are many rune stones around Husby, including Granbyhallen , a legacy of the Vikings . Agriculture stopped in 1959. The old Husby farm ( Husby gård ) dates from 1840 and has been partially preserved. The former agricultural buildings are now used as a café, studios and art gallery ( Husby Konsthall ).

Husby today

Husby is on the blue T11 metro line . The most important buildings of the modern Husby were built from 1972 as part of the million dollar program . The underground station opened in 1977; the journey to Stockholm by train takes about 20 minutes. The name of the city suggests a former royal court. The streets of Husby are named after cities.

Today Husby has a large population of immigrants , mostly from Turkey , Lebanon , Syria , Iraq and Somalia . 82.7% of the population are of the first or second generation of foreign origin (as of January 31, 2008). The police ranked Husby as one of the 22 most vulnerable areas in Sweden in terms of high crime and social exclusion in 2019 .

Unrest in Stockholm 2013

Husby hit the headlines of the international press in the unrest in 2013 after around 129 cars were burned over the course of three days.
