Hussain Asim al-Hizam (born June 4, 1998 in al-Jubail ) is a Saudi pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Hussain al-Hizam gained his first international experience at the 2013 Arab Championships in Doha , where he won the silver medal behind Moroccan Mouhcine Cheaouri with 4.90 m . He then won the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing with 4.70 m and was fifth at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang with 4.60 m. The following year he won the Arab Junior Championships in Cairo with 5.32 m, was then fourth with 4.85 m at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei , as well as at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing with the same height. In October he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon for the first time and was ninth with a jump of 4.95 m. In 2015 he reached the final of the Youth World Championships in Cali , where he was eliminated without a valid amount. In 2016 a fifth place followed at the Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City with a jump over 5.00 m. He qualified for the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , where he was eliminated with 5.10 m in qualification.

In 2017 he won the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku with 5.55 m and finished seventh at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 5.20 m. When he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018 , he reached fifth place with 5.50 m.

In 2012, al-Hizami became the Saudi Arabian pole vault champion.
