Huub Rothengatter (born October 8, 1954 in Bussum ) is a former Dutch racing driver .
Career
Racing driver
Huub Rothengatter was able to finance a career in Formula 1 , although he rose rather inconspicuously to the highest single posto class. Rothengatter drove a full Formula 2 season for Chevron in 1979 . In 1980 he moved to Toleman and won the championship run in Zolder .
In 1981 Rothengatter tried to get a Formula 1 contract, but this failed and his career stalled. In 1984 he got into Formula 1 with Spirit . The season was changeable, as was 1985 , when he drove for Osella . With seventh place in the Australian Grand Prix , he came closest to a world championship point. In 1986 he became a factory driver at Zakspeed . Even with the Zakspeed 861 , points remained out of reach and after 25 Grand Prix, the Dutchman's Formula 1 ambitions ended with no world championship points.
Racing driver manager
After his resignation, Rothengatter became involved as a manager of racing drivers. For many years he successfully looked after his compatriot Jos Verstappen , who, like himself, drove in Formula 1.
