Gamma Tauri ( γ Tauri , γ Tau ) is a star in the constellation Taurus . It has an apparent magnitude of 3.65 mag and is around 160 light years away. Gamma Tauri is a member of the Hyades . The star bears the historical proper name Hyadum I ( Primus Hyadum or Prima Hyadum , "First of the Hyades").
