Coat of arms of those of Hymmen

Hymmen is the name of a Rhenish family that first appeared in a document in 1550 with Peter Hymmen from the Hohenholz farm in Königshoven , district of Kaster an der Erft , and his brother, customs officer in Blatzheim . The reliable family line begins with Heinrich Hymmen (around 1532–1612), ducal lawyer from Jülich-Berg , later landowner in Winkhausen near Lüdenscheid .

Nobility uprisings

The Prussian Secret Councilor and Chancellor in Kleve, Dr. jur. Reinhard Hymmen (1661–1722), has been using the title of nobility since about 1715 and is counted with his descendants to the Prussian nobility.

The seven children of the Prussian Privy Councilor Heinrich Johann Hymmen († 1757) were accepted into the imperial knighthood in Vienna on February 11, 1770 with the name “Edler von Hymmen” .

Together with their cousins Johann Wilhelm Bernhard Hymmen (1725–1787) and Georg Hymmen , Prussian Privy Councilor in Kleve, they were raised to the Prussian nobility on October 2, 1786 in Berlin .

possession

Johann Wilhelm Bernhard's grandson, District Administrator Eberhard von Hymmen (1784-1854), bought the castle atendenich near Bonn in 1830 , which remained in the family until 1962. His eldest son Heinrich (* 1823) bought the Unterbach house near Düsseldorf in 1847 , which is still inhabited by descendants of the female line, the Zech von Hymmen family.
