I'm Just a Kid is a pop-punk - song of the Canadian band Simple Plan . The song was released on February 19, 2002 and is part of the album No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls . Thematically, the song revolves around young people in the self-discovery phase, who see life as unfair, ask themselves what's wrong with them and suffer from it, but are actually only children.
Music video
The music video shows an average and somewhat embarrassing boy (played by DJ Qualls ) trying to impress a popular girl (played by Eliza Dushku ). To show her how brave and strong he is, he wants to take dangerous and risky actions. However, he is always prevented from doing this by other more popular and cooler guys, who, however, fail themselves, get injured and let him feel a little malicious glee. In the end, he gets along with the girl without completing any of these challenges, while the other boys have all been badly injured.
In addition to this main story, another teenage boy who is bullied and teenagers dancing to the music of the band members are also shown.
The video was filmed with actors from The New Guy (such as Tony Hawk ) and released as an extra on the DVD. The recordings were made at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach , California . The video has been viewed more than 25 million times on YouTube .
