After the release of the second album, the group remained quiet for almost two years before they returned from their break in 2012 with a new line-up. In addition to singer Sam Schneider and bassist Joel Schwallier, three former Enfold Darkness musicians joined the group: the two guitarists Malcom Pugh and Mike Low, as well as drummer Jack Blackburn . Blackburn also played in the past in the band Vital Remains .

On January 28, 2014, the comeback album The Path of Apotheosis was released via The Artisan Era , which was founded by Malcom Pugh in 2010. Work on the album, which was directed by Logan Bennett, who worked with Fallujah in the past , was completed in November 2013. In mid-February 2018, the band released Behold the Bearer of Light, their first single from their fourth studio album, called Revenant , which will be released on April 21, 2018 . The Black Dahlia Murder won Trevor Strnad as a guest singer .

Between February 22 and March 16, 2018, the group toured several states in the United States as the opening act for Alterbeast . In November and December 2019, the group will travel to several European countries for the first time as a support act for Beneath the Massacre , Vulvodynia and Archspire on their European tour.

music

On The End of an Era , guitar playing was described as being inspired by The Black Dahlia Murder . On the successor, influences from Cradle of Filth were added , not least due to the complete restructuring of the band . The use of orchestral elements in the music was also further intensified. Through the increased use of symphonic insertions, the music also takes on forms of Fleshgod Apocalypse .

Keith Bergman describes the music as a mixture of Black Metal from the Norwegian school, with Thrash or Death Metal from the Gothenburg school and influences from American Metal, such as The Black Dahlia Murder fabricate.
