action

The plot of the game, which is divided into 19 missions, revolves around a fictional Chinese general named "Wu Xing" as the antagonist. Xing orchestrates various events (like the robbery of a prototype technology from the Russian Mafia) to get EMP weapons on a launcher into space ...

The protagonist of the game, David Jones, an agent of the Institute for Geotactical Intelligence (IGI) and former Special Air Service -member, was in the Carpathian sent to a number of stolen EMP - chips to pick up, which is owned by the Russian mafia are .

After laning through a HALO jump near a weather stationand infiltrated it, Jones retrieves a stolen chip. After careful examination, the researchers at the IGI come to the conclusion that the chip that Jones found was actually an improved version of the chip. Dann his mission director orders him to retrieve the remaining EMP chips so that the IGI researchers can conduct a full examination of the chips to determine which one is actually usedthe Russian mafia stole them. He is then taken to a local Russian warehouse, where a convoy with the chips is expected to arrive. He is instructed to fetch C4 explosives from the facility and destroy the bridge the convoy would pass and then recover the chips. After successfully completing his objective, he will be taken to a Russian weapons manufacturing facility to receive the remaining EMP chips and their blueprints . But during the evacuation he is betrayed by his pilot Robert Quest and his mission director Phillip White , so that he is forced to jump out of the helicopter. He lands on the Ukrainian-Romanian border, where he has to avoid the incoming border patrols or remain undetected.

In the meantime, his former pilot and mission director have fled with the EMP chips and blueprints. The self-deceived IGI was unable to determine the whereabouts of the two after the incident, but they were able to gain information that White had made several arms deals with Jach Priboi in Libya .

Anya returns as Jones director and, on the orders of Senator Lenahan, sets off with Jones to Libya to interrogate Priboi , who was jailed by Libyan intelligence while delivering weapons to the rebels. When he finally visits him, he himself is captured by the Libyan secret service commander Major Zaleb Said . The two are taken to a heavily guarded Libyan prison. While they are being transported, Priboi asks him what his purpose is in finding him. Jones replies that he is after his former mission director, Phillip White , and that the IGI knows that White made arms deals with Priboi. Priboi then reveals that he did a lot of business with White selling him advanced equipment. His last order from Priboi was for a Russian Ekranoplan , which failed to deliver. The shipping documents are in a safe in Priboi's Villa, which has now been taken over by Major Zaleb Said as the base of operations.

After David and Priboi escape from prison, they decide to go to the villa to get the information. After deactivating the villa compound's security system and bypassing Major Said's guards, they discover that the documents are no longer in the safe. They decide to take Priboi's former helicopter, which is not far from the villa. They manage to catch Major Said and get the papers back.

David then makes his way to the port, where he is instructed by Anya to find the Enkranoplan and a box of stolen EMP chips. While searching the logs for the Enkranoplan, David discovers that Robert Quest and Phillip White actually worked with an as yet unidentified state to steal the chips. There is finally a first showdown between David and his former pilot. He then travels with Ekranoplan to the Spratly Islands , where Anya says suspicious activity has been carried out. After a series of events, David finds his former mission director who is working with a Chinese general whom he later identifies as General Wu Xing and who plans to use the chips to use against US intelligence .

David later tracks down his former mission director, Phillip White. But this is killed by General Wu Xing in a dispute resulting from a misunderstanding; after the former accused the latter of having killed his criminal friend Robert Quest, who was actually killed by David.

In Wu Xing's secret weapons laboratory, David Jones learns that the general wants to start a third world war with the use of an ICBM . Then he gets into a shootout with Wu Xing and kills him.

David fights his way to a large and closely guarded rocket launch pad . On the orders of his director Arya, he is supposed to stop the rocket launch immediately before it detonates, which he fails and as a result the incident attracts international attention. With difficulty, David then succeeds in preventing the rocket from approaching its programmed target and detonating in space instead.
