ICC U19 World Cricket Championship 2012
The ICC U19 World Cricket Championship 2012 was the ninth edition of the Junior Cricket World Championship organized by the International Cricket Council and was held in Australia from 11 to 26 August . The world championship was held in the one-day international format, in which each team played one innings over a maximum of 50 overs . In the final India was able to prevail with a 6-wickets win against hosts Australia.
Attendees
In addition to the junior teams of the ten test nations, six teams - Scotland, Nepal, Ireland, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea and Namibia - had qualified for the finals through a qualifying tournament held in Ireland.
format
In four preliminary round groups, each with four teams, everyone played against each other, with a win earning two points, a tie or a no result one point. The two best teams qualified for the quarter-finals and the last two teams for the consolation round. The winners of the quarter-finals qualified for the semi-finals, which then determined the finalists. All places were played out, so that a total of 48 games took place.
