The 3-Seenbahn e. V. is a railway association that has set itself the goal of maintaining Seebrugg station and building a railway museum there. In the summer and winter months, the association runs train rides on the Dreiseenbahn and Höllentalbahn with historical vehicles.

history

The Seebrugg station with its facilities was completely preserved and presented itself largely unchanged in the state of the 1950s, when the last Interregio ran from Seebrugg to Norddeich on December 14, 2002 . When the tracks threatened to be demolished, eight people founded the interest group on January 13, 2008 with the aim of preserving the station. They achieved a construction freeze for Deutsche Bahn as well as the pre-financing of the first steam train journeys in August 2008 through ten communities in the Upper Black Forest. The locomotive 64 419 of the Crailsheimer Verein DBK Historische Bahn was used here .

The track systems east of today's platform in Seebrugg were cleared of vegetation before renovation work could begin and have been drivable again since 2009. In the summer of the same year, further special trips were carried out on a train belonging to the Ulm Railway Friends, with 6,000 passengers bringing the association a turnover of 39,000 euros.

In May 2010, the first vehicle acquired by the association arrived in Seebrugg with an express train carriage. Also in 2010, a historic water crane from the Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe from Constance was installed. There were again trips with the Ulm train.

In January 2014 the TV magazine Eisenbahnromantik reported on the work of the association.

In December 2014, an electric locomotive was driven for the first time as part of the St. This was to test whether electric locomotive rides would be accepted by the public. The trips were successful, so the cornerstone for the operational refurbishment of the E 44 1170 has been laid.

An open-air museum is to be developed from the Seebrugg train station . The aim is to enable the visitor to travel back in time to the post-war period , dealing with topics such as technological and social history as well as social and regional history. The topics are to be presented in various freight cars and in the vicinity of the station. Part of this planning is u. a. a listed gantry crane that was acquired by the city of Horb.

Track renovation 2014

The tracks at the Seebrugg freight station were in poor condition at the time of the takeover by the association. The wooden sleepers were last renewed in the 1960s and accordingly rotted. In the last few years before the renovation, the tracks could therefore only be used with a special permit from the state railway supervisory authority; the maximum speed was 5 kilometers per hour. Only track 1 was renewed by DB Netz AG shortly before the shutdown. It was therefore clear from the start that there was no getting around a comprehensive track renovation.

A lot of preparatory work has already been carried out by the voluntary members of the association, such as the underground laying of cable conduits, electricity and water lines.

From 2011, funds were collected for the renovation of the track system, which should cost 430,000 euros. The districts of Lörrach , Waldshut and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald also pledged funds, as did several Upper Black Forest communities. Because of the supraregional importance of the project and the intermunicipal association, funding was successfully applied for through the EU's LEADER funding program . In addition to the original Seebrugg museum station project , the follow-up project Lokgrube Seebrugg to rebuild a maintenance pit for the museum trains has now also been included in the LEADER funding program.

The renovation of all tracks was carried out from September 14th to mid-November 2014 by Geiger + Schüle Bau Ulm . Remaining work such as the construction of maneuvering routes and level crossings were and will be carried out by the association members themselves in the following years.

The planned reconstruction of the overhead line could not take place as planned after the track renovation due to immense cost increases in track construction. This work is now to be carried out in connection with the refurbishment of the E 44 1170 with new subsidies to be applied for.

The association has been driving historic vehicles since it was founded in 2008. The Dreiseenbahn and the Höllentalbahn are used from Seebrugg . Here, too, volunteer members provide the entire staff. A large part of the club's financial needs can be covered by winning the trips.

  • The summer vapor takes place since 2009 every summer as from late July to early August each on the weekends instead. It includes steam train rides on the Dreiseenbahn between Titisee and Seebrugg, in the past sometimes also on the rear Höllentalbahn to Löffingen . During the summer steam season, once a year since 2013 ...
    • Dinner, steam and candlelight take place, an evening event that combines a steam train ride with a multi-course dinner.
  • The Winter Steam is since 2012 a year of 28 December until 1 January and will consist of steam train rides on the DreiSeenBahn.
  • At the beginning of December 2014, an electric locomotive was used for the first time on the so-called Nikolausfahrt with the E 94 088. This also served to test the acceptance of an electric locomotive by passengers.
  • In 2015, steam train rides also took place for the first time on Whitsun and Corpus Christi . In 2016 these could not take place due to the construction work on the Dreiseenbahn.

Since the association does not currently have an operational mainline locomotive, locomotives rented by various associations are used for the journeys.

vehicles

The vehicle fleet of the IG 3-Seenbahn consists of vehicles that were found in the Black Forest between 1945 and 1960.

Traction vehicles

The club is owned by the currently inoperable electric ex-Freiburg E 44 1170 and owner of a Köf II . After the Köe 6062 was parked because the deadline had expired, Köf 6586 took over the shunting tasks in Seebrugg station.

A Henschel DEL 110 could be taken over by the HEB 41 073 eV in 2015 , after it had been in the association's possession since 2010 as a permanent loan. It got the designation Köe 6043 from the IG 3-Seenbahn (based on the Köe 6042 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn).

In the long term, the association is striving for the operational refurbishment of the Höllentalbahn locomotive 85 007 , which is currently a memorial in BW Freiburg. The locomotive is given to the association as a permanent loan from the city of Freiburg. As soon as the association owns and has renovated the locomotive shed in Seebrugg or built a new locomotive shed, the locomotive can be transferred there and refurbished.

Passenger cars

For use in the museum train, the association has two stylish train sets that are to be refurbished gradually. This is

  • an express train consisting of five four-axle express train wagons , which is to be supplemented by an additional seating wagon and a four-axle baggage car and
  • a passenger train made up of three standard branch line cars ("Hell Valleys") and a two-axle baggage car.

In addition, there have been three operational blunderbusses in Seebrugg since the beginning of 2015 . These are wagons 83 117, 83 282 and 36 404, which were taken over by the Swabian Alb Railway (SAB) .

Freight wagons

The freight car collection includes typical types of freight cars from the post-war period. The reconditioned (covered) wagons serve either as storage wagons or accommodate (photo) exhibitions. On certain dates (currently at the summer festivals), loading demonstrations are shown with some cars. B. the loading of logs on flat wagons or the loading of coal in bulk wagons.

Among other things, the association has a refrigerated truck with a brakeman's cab built in 1927 by the Fuchs Waggonfabrik in Heidelberg, as well as its successor, built in 1943, a former sea fish refrigerated truck that was actively used until 1976; Both are owned by the Baden State Brewery Rothaus . The older car was put back into operation in 2018 after extensive refurbishment.
