II. Navy Flak Brigade
The II. Marine Flakbrigade was a large unit in brigade strength of the Navy in World War II . She emerged on May 1, 1942 from the II. Marine Flakregiment and was responsible for the air defense of Wilhelmshaven .
Seat and command
The II. Marine Flakbrigade was based in Fort Schaar until July 30, 1942 . Due to the lack of space in the old casemates of the fort, the brigade moved to the air defense command at Rosenhügel in Wilhelmshaven city park. This was put into operation on August 1, 1942. The commandant had command of the brigade in the Wilhelmshaven section :
- Rear Admiral Walther Oehler , May 1940 (as Commander of the Second Marine Flak Regiment) - December 1943
- Captain Herbert Sorge (later in command of the Cuxhaven section ), January - October 1944
- Frigate Captain Hans Pfülf (former commander of Naval Flak Division 212 and commander in the Cuxhaven section ), October 1944 - January 1945
- Sea captain Walter Mulsow (former sea commander Seine-Somme and sea commander Estonia ), January - May 1945
Troop strength
On January 1, 1943, the Second Marine Flak Brigade had a troop strength of 7,132 soldiers, at the end of the year there were still 5064 soldiers. There were also 696 naval helpers, 936 naval helpers and 379 Russian prisoners of war willing to help .

The flak sub-group command was on the fortification road. Today it is called Freiligrathstrasse at the Jade Tennis Club.

Marine Flak Division 222
Flak sub-group command south
Directly south of the Vareler Schleuse, the control center of the Flak Subgroup Command South of Marine Flak Division 222 had been located since 1940. A 2 cm weapon was installed on the tower. The headquarters of the company was located in the "Suhren Castle" on Hafenstrasse. The building is still preserved today.

Naval Flak Division 252
Flak sub-group command west
The Lakuntergruppenkommando West was located at today's intersection of the federal road 2010 with the Heidmühle road. There was a 20-meter high stand that was largely identical to that of the Flak Sub-Group Command in the middle of Naval Flak Division 212 in Wilhelmshaven Fortification Street. In a school building and in barracks the command facilities of the command center and the offices of the headquarters company with accommodation and kitchen were found.

Marine Flak Division 262
Marine Flak Division 262 was dissolved on November 1, 1943, and the heavy flak batteries were transferred to the newly established Marine Flak Division 232.

Naval Flak Division 272
Flak sub-group command east
About a kilometer north of the Tossens battery was the M.Fla.A. 272 and the Flak-Ugruko Ost. There was an 18 meter high tower in which the Ugrukos control room was. The tower was unique in the fortress area of Wilhelmshaven and was blown up by the occupation troops after the war.

Naval Flak Division 282
Flak sub-group command north
The headquarters company and the flak sub-group command of Navy Flak Division 282 were housed in a former RAD barracks camp at the north-western exit of Hooksiels. Nine explosive bombs damaged the accommodation of the staff battery and the flak sub-group command in an air raid on November 30, 1941.
