Ian Mehamed (born September 11, 1989 in Mar del Plata ) is an Argentine beach volleyball player .

Career

Mehamed played his first FIVB World Tour tournament with Facundo Del Coto at the Mallorca Open in 2008 . From 2013 he joined Julian Amado Azaad and regularly achieved results among the top five in the continental tournament series. At the Grand Slams in Corrientes and Gstaad , Azaad / Mehamed took 17th and 25th place. At the Anapa Open they came in ninth in the top ten for the first time. They then retired early on at the Grand Slams in Berlin and Moscow . In 2014 they won a tournament in Chile in the continental series .

Mehamed played from April 2014 on the continental tournament series mainly with Nicolás Capogrosso . With Capogrosso he also completed his first tournament on the FIVB World Tour at the Paraná Open and finished fifth. At the continental tournaments in 2015 they were regularly in the top five. In their first Grand Slam in Saint Petersburg , Capogrosso / Mehamed took 25th place. Then they reached sixth place at the Pan American Games in Toronto . They finished the year with a fifth and a 17th place at the Open tournaments in Rio de Janeiro and Puerto Vallarta . In 2016 they regularly finished at least fifth in the CSV tournaments. On the World Tour, however, they were eliminated early at the Maceió Open and the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro. They later completed the Open tournaments in Fortaleza and Cincinnati in 17th place.

Mehamed has been the trainer for the Argentinian beach volleyball team since 2017.
