Ian Siegal

Ian Siegal (* 1971 in England ) is a British Blues - musician and singer-songwriter .

Life

Siegal discovered his love for the blues with the music of Buddy Holly , Jerry Lee Lewis , Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry . At 16 he worked as a roadie for his cousin's band. There he happened to get the chance to sing in front of an audience, with surprising success. At 18 he taught himself the guitar . At 20 he broke off his art studies and went to Berlin. There he perfected his guitar technique and when he went back to England he decided to start a music career. He stayed in Nottingham for five years , where he and a newly formed band became an integral part of the local music scene. He later went to London to expand his music career and formed a new band there, his current band.

He went into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame because he won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Male Vocals category. He received "The Kevin Thorpe Award Songwriter Of The Year" in 2013 for the song I Am The Train . He was also honored in 2012, 2015 and 2016 in the "Accustic Act" category, in 2010 he won the title of best blues band with his band, and in 2013 he was awarded the Mississippi Mudbloods for the album Candy Store Kid .

In 2018 Siegal won two UK Blues Awards in the categories "Male Blues Vocalist of the Year" and "Acoustic Blues Act of the Year".

Influences

Ian Siegal was heavily influenced by the works of British blues rock of the 1960s and 1970s.
