Ibra ( Arabic إبراء, DMG Ibrāʾ ) is the largest city in the Shamal al-Sharqiyya Governorate in Oman and its capital. Ibra is administratively also a Wilaya of the Shamal al-Sharqiyya governorate. The administrative district has a size of 1233 km² and a population of 27,216 people. The city is located about 140 km southeast of Muscat inland and has a population of about 15,000 people. It is one of the oldest cities in Oman. The city is home to the Ibra Nursing Institute and the Ibra College of Technology , one of seven technical colleges in Oman. Ash-Sharqiyyah University has been located there since 2010.

climate

From November to March it is relatively cold, temperatures can drop to 10 ° C in December. Summer is hot and dry, with temperatures reaching around 50 ° C in July. The frequency of precipitation is low and mostly limited to winter.
