The DHC IceCats Linz are an Austrian women's ice hockey team from Linz .

history

The club started in 2003 as a hobby club and played mostly friendly matches or small tournaments for several years.

In 2006 the cooperation with the inline skate hockey club Irish Moose began in order to be able to compete as Irish IceCats in the newly established women's inline skate hockey Bundesliga . Under the leadership of Detlev Bauernfeind as coach, the team reached the runner-up championship in 2006.

During the 2007/08 season the entry into the second division of the women's ice hockey Bundesliga was prepared. Due to the new construction of the second ice rink and the cooperation with the EHC Tornados Linz, the IceCats received their own ice age for the first time. In the 2008/2009 ice hockey season, the IceCats started playing as a team of the EHC Tornados Linz under the name ASKÖ Tornados IceCats Linz in the women's ice hockey Bundesliga 2.

Due to the relatively high number of members (over 60), the IceCats decided in 2014 to found their own club, the DHC IceCats Linz. A year later, the first IceCats team started in the Bundesliga (DEBL) for the first time, the second team in DEBL 2.
