Ice Cream Man is an American horror comedy from 1995 starring Clint Howard .

action

After Gregory Tudor had to watch the murder of his favorite ice cream seller, the "Ice Cream King", as a child, he was admitted to the Wishing Well asylum , where the asylum's motto was instilled into him over years of questionable therapy: "There are no bad days. Only nice, nice days. ". By the time he is released, Gregory is already an adult and is starting to work as an ice cream seller.

However, nobody knows that Gregory has a dark secret: Driven insane by the trauma and the unusual therapy, he secretly murders animals and people as ingredients for his ice cream. Including his neighbor's dog and former carer Miss Wharton.

When Gregory kidnaps the boy Small Paul , with whom he has a strange friendship (both love the same type of ice cream), the boy Tuna, who saw him, and his friends Heather and Johnny become aware of him. They order the police to search the old ice cream factory where Gregory lives, but they find nothing. When the two police officers in charge notice that both Gregory and Miss Wharton are mentally abnormal, they begin to check the woman's background and therefore drive to Wishing Well Hospital, where she worked as a nurse. Meanwhile, Gregory Small takes Paul, whom he is hiding in a secret room, as some kind of student and teaches him how to make ice cream.

In the asylum, the police learn that Gregory Tudor was looked after for years by Miss Wharton, who is now his neighbor. However, when they realize that the director of the institution is crazy too and wants to prevent them from leaving by inciting the patients on them, they have to fight their way through and sometimes can only flee the asylum by force.

After Gregory kidnaps Tuna, Heather and Johnny pursue him along with his brother Jacob. Gregory kills Jacob and his girlfriend and chases the children across his property. The two policemen who also arrive are knocked down by him with ladles. Miss Wharton hands the children over to Gregory believing that he is just playing hide and seek with them. When Gregory wants to kill the children, he is lured into the house by Small Paul, who lights up the image of the Ice Cream King in front of his face and is therefore mistaken by Gregory for his deceased idol. There Small Paul Tudor drops into a blender. More police officers arrive soon after, while the still unsuspecting Miss Wharton wonders where her dog and Gregory have gone.

At the end it is learned that Small Paul is in therapy after the events (whether it is the Wishing Well institution again, remains unclear), where he is smilingly touching ice cream.

continuation

During the twentieth anniversary, Clint Howard made an online fundraising campaign to produce a sequel called Ice Cream Man 2: Blood Sundae . In this film Gregory should return and take revenge on the grown up children. Although the film did not materialize for financial reasons, there is a cover of the film that is heavily based on the cover of the first part, where Gregory holds a blood-smeared ice cream cone in his hand. The second cover shows the visibly older Gregory with a glass sundae with one eye in it.
