A group of young skiers head into an area of Utah where they want to train. Six genetically modified spiders that have mutated into giant spiders and become cold-resistant through the experiments break out of a secret laboratory nearby. Therefore, they do not mind the sub-zero temperatures in the snowy area and they start to see people as food, to hunt and eat them. Some skiers try to withstand the spiders on a school bus, others barricade themselves in the main building of the resort. In return, the officers try to recapture the spiders. A struggle for survival begins.
