Ichirnawa (also: Ichirnaoua ) is a rural community in the Kantché department in Niger .

geography

Ichirnawa is in the Sahel region . The neighboring municipalities are Garagoumsa in the northwest, Tirmini in the northeast, Droum in the east, Doungou in the southeast, Matamèye in the southwest and Kantché in the west. The municipality is divided into 18 administrative villages, ten traditional villages, 43 hamlets and five camps. The main town of the rural community is Ichirnawa.

history

The rural community of Ichirnawa emerged in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from part of the canton of Kantché.

population

At the 2001 census, Ichirnawa had 24,993 residents. For 2010, 33,934 inhabitants were calculated. Members of the Fulbe subgroup Daourawa, which mainly practices agropastoralism , live in Ichirnawa .

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced.
