Ida Wolff

Ida Wolff (born October 28, 1893 in Brieg ; † November 17, 1966 in Berlin ) was a Berlin politician ( SPD ). After the Second World War, she founded the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in Berlin together with Louise Schroeder and Franz Neumann . She was also a member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life

Ida Wolff attended elementary school and then a home economics training at the Peterswaldau business school . She then worked as a bookbinder and later as a saleswoman. She married in 1918.

Wolff was active in the union from 1912 and also joined the SPD in 1918. She completed an apprenticeship with the workers' welfare and then became a welfare worker at the youth welfare office . Soon afterwards she was elected to the Wroclaw district executive and to the party executive committee of the SPD in Central Silesia . She was also elected city ​​councilor in Brzeg and she was a member of the provincial council .

She and her husband were arrested during National Socialism . After her release, she managed to escape to Berlin, where she settled in Kreuzberg . After the end of the war she supported the re-establishment of the SPD and, together with Louise Schroeder and Franz Neumann, the AWO in Berlin. In the first free elections in 1946 , she was elected to the Kreuzberg district assembly and the city ​​assembly of Berlin . Later she was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives and was also a member of the SPD state executive.
