Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński
Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński (born February 15, 1807 in Romaniw , † October 9, 1867 in Warsaw ) was a Polish pianist and composer .
Life
Dobrzyński studied together with Frédéric Chopin with Józef Elsner . He went on concert tours through Germany and worked as an opera and concert conductor.
Works
He composed an opera ( Monbar czyli Flibustierowie - Monbar oder die Flibustier , 1863), two pieces for drama (to Die Burggrafen by Victor Hugo , 1860 and to Konrad Wallenrod by Adam Mickiewicz , 1859-65), symphonies , an orchestral fantasy, a piano concerto (1824 ), chamber music works (including a sextet for two violins , viola , two cellos and double bass ), piano works and songs .
His first symphony in C minor was a great success, and it took second place in a symphony competition in Vienna in 1835 (first prize went to Franz Lachner's Symphonia Passionata ), but it is considered lost. Dobrzyński dedicated his second symphony ( Symfoniacharystyczna ) to Nicholas I.
