Ignatius Pierre VIII. Abdel-Ahad , real name Grégoire Pierre Abdel-Ahad , (born June 28, 1930 in Aleppo , Syria , † April 4, 2018 in Jerusalem ) was Archbishop of Beirut and Patriarch of the Syrian Catholic Church united with Rome of Antioch.

Life

Grégoire Pierre Abdel-Ahad entered the minor seminary of the St. Ephrem-St.-Benoît seminary of the French Benedictines in Jerusalem in 1944 and, after its relocation, studied philosophy and theology at the Convent of Charfet (Šarfeh), Lebanon, from 1949 to 1955 .
