Ignaz Samuel Pallme (born February 1, 1806 in Steinschönau , † June 11, 1877 in Hainburg an der Donau ) was an Austrian traveling salesman and Africa explorer . He became known through research on Kordofans .

In 1837 he undertook a trip to Cairo in the hope of opening up new trade routes to Central Africa , which eventually led him to Sudan . He stayed two years, longer than any other researcher before him, and studied the local customs and traditions of the (then) Egyptian province of Kordofan. He also dealt with the history of the region and denounced the slave trade operated by Muhammad Ali Pasha . Pallme also visited places that were still unknown at that time and thus completed the map of Sudan. His book Description of Kordofan and some neighboring countries (Stuttgart 1843) is considered an authentic, contemporary description of Kordofan.
