Ignaz Perner
Johann Ignaz Perner (born July 3, 1796 in Ebersberg , † February 16, 1867 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lawyer and is considered one of the pioneers of the worldwide animal protection movement .
Perner came from a humble background - he was born the tenth child of a court usher - but, after graduating from high school in 1812 at the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich, he still managed to go to Landshut University , where he joined the Corps Bavaria and reconstituted it in 1817 from his Corp brother Rector Mittermaier from the Karzerhaft was dismissed. Even as a young man he achieved considerable wealth.
In 1842 he founded one of the world's first animal protection associations in Munich , which was quickly followed by numerous others at home and abroad.
Perner's grave site with a by sculptor Michael Wagmüller is modeled bronze bust on the old southern cemetery in Munich (burial ground 37 - row 13 - 34th) Location . In Munich, as in his hometown Ebersberg, a Ignaz-Perner-Strasse commemorates this important pioneer of animal welfare.
