Igor Alexandrovich Kravchuk ( Russian Игорь Александрович Кравчук ; born September 13, 1966 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .

Career

His career began in 1982/83 with Salawat Julajew Ufa . The defender played here until the 1987/88 season before moving to CSKA Moscow . In total, he scored 16 goals in 243 games in the Soviet league . In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the fourth round in 71st place by the Chicago Blackhawks . After the fall of the Soviet Union , he dared to make the leap into the National Hockey League.

At the end of the 1991/92 season he joined the Blackhawks and immediately prevailed. After reaching the Stanley Cup Finals, he was handed over to the Edmonton Oilers in the course of the coming season together with Dean McAmmond , who received Joe Murphy in return . There he played his best season in 1993/94 and achieved 50 points scorer. In January 1996 he moved to the St. Louis Blues . The 1997/98 season he began with the Ottawa Senators , who had brought him for Steve Duchesne . The Senators game was based on fast skaters and that was Kravchuk, who was nominated for the 1999 NHL All-Star Game . During the 2000/01 season he moved to the Calgary Flames and played there one and a half seasons. He later made seven games for the Florida Panthers before retiring.

He was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team at an early age . On April 6, 1987, he was in a game against Sweden for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. After 1991 he continued to be a member of the United Team and then later the Russian national team .

His international career was crowned with gold medals at the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics . In 1988 he was honored as Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .
