Igor Perovic (* 3. March 1974 ) is a of Serbia originating basketball coach and former basketball player. In the basketball Bundesliga he played for the teams from Würzburg and Tübingen and played a total of 144 games in the highest German league.
Career
Perović played as a point guard in various clubs in Europe during his playing days . His professional career began at Partizan Belgrade in his home country, what was then Yugoslavia (now Serbia ). His first stop in Germany was TSK Würzburg . For the 2005-2006 season, the Guard moved to Tübingen and played there until 2009.
From the 2009-2010 season he followed in the footsteps of coach Tolga Öngören and took over the sporting management of the Walter Tigers Tübingen . On December 23, 2015, Perović announced his retirement as coach of the Tigers. He told the Schwäbischer Tagblatt in June 2016 that he suffered from burnout and that he had taken a month-long break after resigning in Tübingen. In the summer of 2017, he took up a coaching position in the young talent division of Ratiopharm Ulm . At the beginning of April 2019 he was introduced as the new coach of the ScanPlus Baskets Elchingen ( 2nd Bundesliga ProB ). He led Elchingen to first place in the ProB southern season in the 2019/20 season and was therefore named champion when dismantling the game operations due to the spread of Covid-19 . Elchingen did not notice the promotion and withdrew from the league, Perović became the new coach of VfL Kirchheim Knights ( 2nd Bundesliga ProB ) in the summer .
Personal
Igor Perović has lived in Tübingen with his wife Mirela and his two daughters Jovana and Sofija since 2005, when he became a player for the Walter Tigers Tübingen .
