Igor Leonidowitsch Trandenkow ( Russian Игорь Леонидович Транденков , English transcription Igor Trandenkov ; born August 17, 1966 in Leningrad ) is a former Russian pole vaulter .

The first major international success of his career was winning the silver medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. There he jumped a height of 5.80 m and only had to admit defeat to his team-mate Maxim Tarasov , who had the same height, because of the larger number of unsuccessful attempts.

Further medals followed with third places at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart and at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1994 in Paris and with second place at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he finally won his second Olympic silver medal. With a height of 5.92 m, it exceeded Serhiy Bubka's Olympic record by two centimeters. The winner Jean Galfione from France and the third-placed German Andrei Tivontchik also jumped 5.92 m, so that the number of unsuccessful attempts decided the ranking.

In addition, Trandenkow was three times Russian champion in the pole vault (1994-1996). He won his third championship title with a personal best of 6.01 m. At the time, he was only the fourth pole vaulter in history to jump over a height of at least six meters.

Igor Trandenkow had a competition weight of 80 kg with a height of 1.91 m. He is married to the former sprinter Marina Trandenkowa .
