religion

The Igorot tribes are officially Christianized today, but still practice their old customs . The animistic ideas of ethnic religions are still present: As ancestors , they worship the dead with high status, nature spirits and gods, including a supreme being kabanian . Numerous rites, which differ from people to people, relate primarily to fertility and natural processes and are intended to preserve the harmony of the world. Such rites are family or community events. Animal sacrifices are practiced. Healers, fortune tellers and priests have shamanic traits, their ability is inherited. Often it is women. Illnesses are believed to be caused by ghosts , and ghosts dwell everywhere in nature, apart from human habitation. After death and the extended burial ceremonies, the soul wanders into the realm of the dead to the ancestors and lives there in a similar way as in this world.
