Ifugao is a province in the Cordillera Administrative Region , on the island of Luzon in the north of the Philippines . The capital of the province is Lagawe . It is surrounded by the provinces of Mountain Province in the north, Isabela in the east, Nueva Vizcaya in the south and Benguet in the west.
Ifugao extends to 2506.3 km² and is populated by 191,078 (May 1, 2010) people. The province is famous for the rice terraces , which are a world heritage site. In the west of the province, parts of the Mount Data National Park lie on its territory. In the valley of the Magat River , in the east of the province, lies the Magat reservoir , whose hydropower plant has a capacity of 381 megawatts.
Ifugao means "people of the earth" in the language of the Ifugao people.
