Iiro Itämies (born July 8, 1972 in Rauma ) is a former Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

During his time in Germany he wore the number 39, but in Sweden he wears the number 1. He made his debut at Kärpät Oulu in the 1989/90 season - he has spent a total of five seasons there. He then moved to the Blues Espoo for four years . In the 1998/99 season he played after his brief appearance with the Kölner Haien in Tappara Tampere . For the 1999/2000 season he moved to Germany in the 2nd Bundesliga for EC Wilhelmshaven-Stickhausen . In the following four seasons he played in Weißwasser. At ES Weißwasser he was number one in goal. He was one of the public favorites with the foxes. His backup goalies were Markus Maier , Ronny Greb , Ronny Glaser and Sebastian Elwing . From there he went to the Dresdner Eislöwen (with Norbert Pascha as a back-up), with whom he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga .

Between 2005 and 2008 he played for Asplöven HC in the third Swedish league , the 1st division.
