Ikeda ( Japanese 池田 町 , - chō ) was a city in Shōzu-gun in the Japanese prefecture of Kagawa .

geography

Ikeda is located on the Ikeda Bay of the same name on Shōdoshima Island in the Japanese Inland Sea .

history

The Mura Ikeda ( 池田 村 , -mura ) was created on February 15, 1890 and was named Chō on May 5, 1929.

On March 21, 2006 Ikeda was merged with Uchinomi to form the new Chō Shōdoshima ( 小豆 島 町 ).

Festivals

October 10 is the local public holiday in Ikeda. Among other things, peasant kabuki pieces are performed on the day .

traffic

International Ferry Ltd. off to Takamatsu. The national road 436 leads on the southern coast, from Tonosho via Ikeda and Uchinomi to Fukuda . Since the national road 436 between Ikeda and Uchinomi does not follow the coastline, it is possible in Ikeda to get to the Jizozaki lighthouse , which is located at the southernmost point of Shōdoshima Island , via a side road .
